Better Deserve

This short film was produced to help raise money for the Table Mountain Animal Center Foundation. I didn’t write the script…and they wrote me in (against my protesting) thinking I’d bring a sort of “man on the streets” honesty to the film. I was against this concept, but that’s what the board of directors wanted.

Oh well. Ignore my mug and check out the TMAC cinematography. That’s what I’m most proud of. The film’s at the bottom of this page.

    Cool josh..!

…wicked aspect ratio! how’d you do that? anamorphic lens?…I felt that since you w’ere intro (ing) the film, it would have been nice to have seen more you in the main body of the piece then again, ’twas a one man production ! maybe a buddy to shoot you interacting with the animals more, seeing how hungry they were for human company might have been a great compliment, touched the heart also…

well done in any case how long was it to shoot & post?

    peace!

    Thanks Matt -

The aspect ration was acheived in post and by applying tape over the LCD screen.

This was most certainly a one man production - which made it even harder because I had no desire what-so-ever to step in front of the camera. My place is behind the lens.

Shoot was over three half-days - VO was an hour - post was about 20 hours since I performed a large amount of color correction work.

Oh yeah, I also cut the music too (not my thing - I’ll get lucky every now and again). Not sure how long that took because it happened at about 3am.

    Hey Josh
in your response to my partner Kat Roberts- Henry (culling editors for our film “Assata”) you quipped wise about “unscripted movies” and how you’ve only worked with minimally known actors so the script hardly mattered…being a minimally known actor myself, but a good one, I thought that was either a very funny wiseguy comment or brilliant piece of ESP re our production “Assata”…….meanwhile can you send us a tape of dramatic feature (short or long mettrage as it were) you’ve edited and then come in for a chat to further things along????
